Install Latest Qmmp Qt Music Player in Ubuntu 15.04

qmmp_qt-player

Qmmp is an open-source qt-based music player with a Winamp-like user interface. It plays most common audio formats and supports XMMS and Winamp 2.x skins, mms, MPRIS, lyrics, CD playback, CUE sheet, etc.

Qmmp works on Windows and Linux. While Ubuntu repositories provide an old version, here’s how to install the latest Qmmp 0.8.4 and keep it up-to-date in Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04, and Linux Mint 17.

1. Open terminal from the Dash, Menu, or by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T on keyboard. When it opens, run command to add PPA:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:forkotov02/ppa

qmmp-ppa

2. After that, run below commands one by one to refresh system cache and install latest Qmmp packages:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install qmmp

Addition: once a new release is out in future, you should be able to upgrade it through Software Center (or Update manager).
