Drawing – Basic Image Editor Similar to Microsoft Paint

Drawing is a simple drawing application, similar to Microsoft Paint, but aiming at the GNOME desktop.

Drawing supports PNG, JPEG and BMP file types. And it comes with keyboard shortcut support, and with following tools:

  • Pencil
  • Rectangle, Circle & oval, Polygon, Free shape, Line & arrow, Arc
  • Insert text
  • Selection (rectangle, free, or by color)
  • Color picker
  • Paint
  • Crop, Flip, Scale, Rotate, Saturate

How to Install Drawing in Ubuntu:

Open terminal either from application menu or via Ctrl+Alt+T keyboard shortcut. When it opens, do following steps one by one:

1. First run command to install flatpak daemon if you don’t have it:

sudo apt install flatpak

install-flatpak

2. Add the flathub repository via command:

flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo

3. Finally install Drawing via command:

flatpak install flathub com.github.maoschanz.drawing

Once installed, launch it from application menu and enjoy.

Uninstall:

To remove the drawing application, simply run command in terminal:

flatpak uninstall com.github.maoschanz.drawing
